Wrong exam timings on admit cards, students fume

Date:

Muktsar, March 13: Students of Class X faced a harrowing time on Day One of the annual examinations today as wrong timings were mentioned on the admit cards issued to them by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB).

The exam was scheduled to be held from 10 am to 1:15 pm, but the admit cards read: “2 to 5:15 pm”.

When some students did not turn up at the exam centre at DAV Senior Secondary School here, the authorities asked the school concerned to look into the matter. Later, students were called to the centre.

However, the teachers on exam duty asked them to bring fresh admit cards mentioning the right timings. Then, the management of Sant Kabir Public High School at Rahurianwali village downloaded admit cards sent anew by the PSEB, following which the students were allowed to appear in the exam.

Savita Aggarwal, Principal, Sant Kabir Public High School, said, “Seven students of our school had to face this problem.”Malkit Singh, District Education Officer (DEO), said, “I am not aware of this incident. There were six-seven students appearing in the Class X exam in the open category at the centre at Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School here whose roll numbers were not issued by the PSEB.

But when I got a call from the high-ups, these students were issued roll numbers and allowed to appear in the exam. They were given extra time too.

”Sukhjinder Singh and Baljitv Singh, parents of the examinees, said, “We came to know around 10:20 am that the exam had started. We rushed our children to the centre. Their examination started after a delay of nearly an hour, but they were not given extra time.”
