Vigilance nabs ASI, Head Constable for taking bribe Rs. 20,000

Chandigarh, February 24: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and head constable (HC), both posted at police station Jalandhar Cantonment, red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau said ASI Parmod Kumar and HC Sumanjeet Singh were arrested on the complaint of Kush Kumar of Jalandhar. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused ASI was demanding Rs 20,000 to release his car confiscated by the police despite the court orders. After verifying his information, a vigilance team from Jalandhar unit laid a trap and both the accused, ASI and HC, were arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Jalandhar and further investigation was under progress.
