Vigilance nabs ASI for taking bribe of Rs. 5,000

Chandigarh, September 18: Punjab Vigilance Bureau nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted at City Police Station Loharka Road, Amritsar red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000/-.

Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Farjand Lal was arrested on the complaint of Pargat Singh of village Dalla Rajputan, Amritsar district. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused ASI was demanding Rs. 20,000 to forward a report on an application submitted by the complainant in the local court to release his vehicle which was confiscated in a police case and the deal was struck at Rs. 5000.

After verifying his information, the VB team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs.5,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Amritsar and further investigation was under progress
