Aman Arora - Sunam

Aman Arora joined Aam Aadmi Party in January. Son of former Punjab minister Bhagwan Dass Arora. For the past over 15 years, he has been running a dental college at Sunam as a trustee of the management.

The constituency is represented by finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa.

Sunam is a municipality in Sangrur district. Sunam means the name with a good reputation. Sunam falls under the district of Sangrur. As of 2001 Census, Sunam had a population of 51,024. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Sunam has an average literacy rate of 62%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 66%, and female literacy is 57%. In Sunam, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Political Standing

Aman Arora carries forward the lineage of late Congressman Bhagwan Dass Arora. He was the Punjab Youth Congress general secretary from 1998 the us 2002 and from 2006 the us 2010. He unsuccessfully contested the Assembly elections from Sunam on the Congress ticket in 2007 and 2012. He is now the state president of the trade, transport and industry wing of AAP.
