Addressing a public meeting at the local grain market, Manpreet said: “There is good news for the people that the condition of state’s economy has turned better and I want to assure them that there is a lot coming for them in the Budget.”

Lashing out at the SAD, Manpreet said: “While the SAD skipped a meeting of NDA over the issue of interference of the BJP in the affairs of Takht Hazoor Sahib and Patna Sahib, Union Minister Harsimrat Badal performed ‘kikli’ with BJP leader Smriti Irani. They don’t have guts to snap ties with the BJP and leave the ministry even for the remaining 60 days, which shows that they are not at all serious about the community.”

Manpreet said many people had been asking what the Congress had done. “I want to tell them that the Congress brought Bhakra Dam, Punjab Engineering College, Punjab Agricultural University and many more big projects. On the other hand, the SAD only laid stones and did nothing.”

The meeting was organised on the occasion of taking over of charge by DCC urban president Arun Jeetmal Wadhawan and Bathinda rural president Khushbaz Singh Jattana.
