Chandigarh, June 9

After a protest by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in front of Lambi police station, demanding the arrest of the culprits involved in the spurious liquor factory busted at Badal village; the AAP has demanded immediate arrest of the real culprits, calling the formation of the SIT by the Captain government a tactic to befool the people of Punjab. In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Wednesday, AAP MLA and Kisan Wing state president Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that in the past, the government had set up a number of SITs in the field of drugs, but the result had always been zero. He said that as per the demand of the Aam Aadmi Party, this case should be investigated by the present Judge of Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, so that the real culprits could be arrested after reaching the depth of the case.

Sandhwan said that the issue of spurious liquor in Punjab was very serious and it could not function without political will. He said that from time to time, illicit liquor factories had been set up in Punjab but the government had not taken any action in these cases to save its people. Sandhwan said that about 120 people had died in the Majha area due to consumption of spurious liquor, but even today no one had been arrested in the case and no case had been registered against any political leader who encouraged these drug smugglers. He said that illicit liquor kilns had also been set up in Captain Amarinder Singh’s home district of Patiala in Rajpura and Ghanaur areas. Sandhwan said that despite the voice raised by common people and the Aam Aadmi Party, the government was not taking any action in these cases.

The AAP leader demanded that the big names involved in this case that have direct links with the Badals should also be included in the proceedings of the case so that justice could be done in real sense. Sandhwan said that everyone knew that the owner of this liquor factory land was close to the Badal family but so far the police had neither registered his name in the FIR nor attached the deed of the land to the case. He warned that the Captain government should not try to sort out the matter by setting up fake SIT in this case as in the case of the Badals. Sandhwan said that if the government did not take any action in the matter, the Aam Aadmi Party would gherao the government on a large scale.
