Shot in arm for AAP as Congress, Akali Dal leaders join party

Date:

Chandigarh, October 16: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab got a major boost when several Congress and Akali Dal Badal leaders from Ludhiana and Jalandhar, along with hundreds of their associates, joined the party here on Saturday.

Apart from these, eminent academic and RSS personalities also joined AAP. Senior AAP leader and MLA Prof Baljinder Kaur formally inducted the leaders from the Congress and the Akali Dal Badal into the party.

Welcoming the party leaders during a function at the party headquarters here on Saturday, Prof Baljinder Kaur said, “The people of Punjab are fed up with the genocidal policies of the Congress party and the Akali Dal Badal; the parties ruling time and again and want to get rid of the mafia rule run by the leaders of these parties.”

She said the Aam Aadmi Party was a new hope for the people of Punjab; that is why the common people of Punjab, political leaders and social activists are joining the Aam Aadmi Party, whose convoy is growing day by day.

Prof Baljinder Kaur said, “The Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi has written a new text of politics for the people of the country. The Chief Minister and National Convener of AAP Arvind Kejriwal has given guarantees to the people of Punjab about electricity and health services based on the experience of the Delhi government.”

The leaders who joined the AAP included Akali Dal Badal leader from Jalandhar and international basketball player Iqbal Singh Dhindsa, Akali leader from Ludhiana Gurmel Singh Chauhan, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (RSS) leader and film director from Jalandhar Manoj Punj, Congress leader from Ludhiana Hardeep Singh Mundian and former Principal Sukhwinder Kaur.
