Scolded, Class VIII boy throws brick at teacher

Date:

Muktsar, February 22: After a teacher scolded a student of Class VIII at Government Senior Secondary School at Gurursar village in Gidderbaha subdivision today, the latter allegedly hit him on the head with a brick.

The injured teacher, Narinderpal Singh, was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital, Gidderbaha, where he got some stitches in the head.

Meanwhile, the school authorities informed the matter to the police and the student, aged about 15, was taken into custody.

Gurdeep Singh, officiating Principal, Government Senior Secondary School, Gurusar village, said, “The school had just started and the first period was underway when a student of Class VIII reportedly abused a teacher of agriculture subject in the courtyard.

The teacher came to me to complain in this regard. However, the student hit the young teacher on the head with a brick lying there. The teacher has got some stitches on the head. His father is a policeman, but the family has not demanded any legal action against the erring student.

”The accused student while talking to mediapersons said, “The teacher had abused me and also held me from my neck. Then I threw a piece of brick on him.

”The incident has, however, created panic among the students and staff. Some teachers said earlier too a student had misbehaved on the school premises and he was not allowed admission to further class.

Meanwhile, the school authorities informed the matter to their higher-ups as well.“The accused student’s father is a daily wager and his sister also studies in our school. We had never even dreamt that he can turn so violent,” said the school principal.

Micky Singh, father of the accused student, said, “I cannot understand how my son became so aggressive.” The accused student’s mother had passed away some time ago.
