Rotational irrigation programme from Jan 23-30

Chandigarh, January 22: The Water Resources Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme of canals for irrigation in the Rabi Season from 23rd to 30th January. The channels and branches off-taking from Ropar Head Works would run on the priority basis from Abohar Branch, Patiala Feeder, Bist Doab Canal, Sidhwan Branch and Bathinda Branch respectively.

Disclosing this today, an official spokesperson of the department said that the Ghaggar Link and its off-taking channels i.e. Ghaggar Branch and Patiala Minor in Group ‘B’ being in the first preference will run to their indent. Balance water supplies available would be utilized in direct Distributaries of Group ‘A’.

He further said that Punjab channels and branches off-taking from Harike and Ferozepur Head Works i.e. Abohar branch off-taking from Sirhind Feeder and its Distributaries in Group ‘B’ being in the first preference would run to their indent and the balance water supplies available will be utilized in direct distributaries of Sirhind feeder in Group ‘A’.

The spokesperson also said that the channels off-taking from Upper Bari Doab Canal i.e. Kasur Branch Lower with its distributaries being in the first preference will run to their indent and the balance water supplies available will be utilized in Sabhraon Branch, Lahore Branch and Main Branch Lower with their distributaries respectively.
