Reflectors must atop trolleys fetching sugarcane to mills: Sukhjinder Randhawa

Chandigarh, November 28: “The Punjab Government has decided to ensure installation of reflectors atop the trolleys fetching sugarcane to the cooperative sugar mills. ” This was disclosed here today by the Cooperation Minister, Punjab, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. He also announced that these reflectors would be installed free of cost on every trolley bringing sugarcane to the cooperative sugar mills across the state.

The minister while explaining the rationale behind the step is to check the road mishaps. Divulging more, he said that during the winter season the farmers take sugarcane to the sugar mills in the trolleys but there is always the danger of mishaps lurking ahead owing to the dense fog which reduces the visibility. He also said that if the reflectors are installed then the vehicle visible from afar thus avoiding accidents.

S. Randhawa further added that keeping in view this aspect, he had decided during his recent visit to the Morinda sugar mill to install reflectors free of cost on the trolleys fetching sugarcane to the cooperative sugar mills. He also said that necessary orders regarding the same have been given to the officers of the Cooperation department.

Disclosing more in this regard, the officers of the department said that the work to install reflectors has begun as per the orders of the minister.
