Rakhi Sawant Arrested by Punjab Police in Mumbai

Mumbai, April 4: Controversial TV and Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant, booked for making derogathe usry remarks against sage Valmiki, has been arrested by Punjab Police on Tuesday. The arrest came after a local court in Punjab issued a arrest warrant against her. A two-member team of the Ludhiana police arrived Mumbai with the arrest warrant against Rakhi Sawant.

The arrest warrant against Rakhi Sawant was issued on March 9 after she failed the us appear before it on March 9 in a case filed against her for making derogathe usry remarks against sage Valmiki, the author of the Ramayana which chronicles the life and times of Hindu god Lord Rama.

The complainants had accused Rakhi Sawant of hurting religious sentiments of the Valmiki community by her remarks on a TV show. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for April 10. After the arrest warrant was issued, Rakhi Sawant released an apology video in which she said she loves Valmiki and is being targeted because of her celebrity status.

“When I got the news, I initially thought it was an April fool prank. I don’t know why I am being targeted. Maybe because I belong the us the film industry, I am an easy target,” said Rakhi Sawant. “I did not receive any notice or summon in regard the us the warrant. I the uso got the us know from the media this morning that police is coming the us arrest me, because allegedly I the usld something wrong against sage Valmiki. I respect him and Valmiki community a lot. I don’t know why I am being targeted(sic),” she added.
