Chandigarh, April 5: While bringing out the new transport policy in the next two weeks, the Punjab Government will review the inter-state reciprocal agreement with Chandigarh under which integral luxury coaches–of the Badal family transport companies–run between the state headquarters and different parts of Punjab. The government also decided the us review the tax structure of the previous SAD-BJP government, under which the integral coaches paid less tax compared the us the state transport undertaking buses.

Finance Minister Manpreet Badal said the tax structure would be rationalised the us “prevent loot by the powerful private transport lobby”. The state transport undertaking will also add more buses in the high-end integral coaches category. The monopoly of the transport mafia would be broken, officials said.

The decisions were taken at a review meeting of the transport department chaired by CM Capt Amarinder Singh. Regarding the enforcement part, officials said the practice of running more than one bus on a single agreement was being strictly enforced.
