Punjab Roads Revamp, 26 projects worth Rs 1851 crores to be completed during 2023-24

To improve road connectivity 26 projects currently underway in Punjab, are targeted for completion in 2023-24, informed Public Works Minister Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO.

He further said that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann the Punjab government is making strenuous efforts for the comprehensive development of the state. He said that these projects with an estimated cost of 1851 crore rupees approved by the Government of India included 8 major and minor bridges, 388 kilometers of national highways are under progress, which are targeted for completion during the financial year 2023-24.

The Minister said that Construction of two railway over bridges at Nangal with the cost of Rs 58.77 crore and Rs 123.8 crore, widening and upgradation of Moga-Kot Isse Khan-Makhu-Harike-Khalra road at a cost of Rs. 293.64 crore, Construction of one combined bridge and two railway over bridges along with widening and upgrading of Makhu-Harike road at a cost of Rs 192.48, widening of Moonak-Jakhal-Budhlada-Bhikhi road from Tohana (Punjab/Haryana border) at a cost of Rs. 293.1 crore and four-lane upgradation from village Jandu Singha to village Madara (National Highway 03) is being made at a cost of Rs. 15.04 crore.

The Cabinet Minister ETO said that the Construction of three minor bridges on National Highway 703-A at a cost of Rs. 6.06 crore, widening and upgrading of Salabatpura-Phul road at a cost of Rs. 84.09 crore, upgrading and four laning of Jalandhar-Kapurthala-Sultanpur Lodhi-Makhu road at a cost of Rs. 39.68 crore, construction of bridge over Ghaggar river at a cost of Rs. 22.71 crore, Strengthening of Pathankot-Banikhet road at a cost of Rs. 32.14 crore and widening and four laning of Jalandhar-Nakodar-Moga at a cost of Rs. 67.19 crore is under process.

The Public Works Minister said the construction of a minor bridge on the Jalandhar-Kapurthala-Makhu road at a cost of Rs. 2.22 crore, the construction of a vehicle underpass from Ferozepur to the Indo-Pak border at a cost of Rs. 29.75 crore, construction of vehicle underpass at bus stand Shutrana at a cost of Rs. 15.77 crore, Construction of vehicle underpass at tax barrier Zikarpur-Ambala road at a cost of Rs. 10.35 crore and Construction of steel bridge at Phagwara-Banga-Navanshahr-Ropar road at a cost of Rs. 80 crore is under process.

Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO said that strengthening of Barnala-Mansa-Sardulgarh road at a cost of Rs. 84.59 crore, strengthening of Hussainiwala-Firozapur Cantt-Malwal road at a cost of Rs. 22.31 crore, strengthening of Abohar bypass road at a cost of Rs. 7.85 crore, strengthening of Jalandhar-Kapurthala-Sultanpur Lodhi-Lohian-Makhu road at a cost of Rs. 19.34 crore, strengthening of Bathinda-Sri Muktsar Sahib road at a cost of Rs. 41.92 crore and strengthening of Pathankot to Jammu road at a cost of Rs. 12.19 crore is being done. Besides, the land acquisition process has been started for widening and upgradation of Kangar road from Patton-Jawahar Singh Wala at a cost of Rs. 17.32 crores.

The Public Works Minister further informed that the widening and upgrading of Arifke-Firozpur-Sri Muktsar Sahib-Malout road at a cost of Rs. 263.19 crore and bridge construction work on Phagwara-Banga-Nawanshehar-Ropar road on Bist Doab Canal at a cost of Rs. 15.72 crore, is likely to start soon.
