Chandigarh, July 24:

The Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has augmented its Covid care capacity for mild asymptomatic cases, under 60 years of age, with operationalisation of new Level-1 Covid Care Centres (CCCs) with total capacity of 7520 beds in 10 Districts. Similar centres, with 100 beds each, would be opened soon in the remaining 12 districts.

According to a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office, the new CCCs already made functional with various bed capacities in 10 districts are: Jalandhar (1000), Amritsar (1000), Patiala (470), Bathinda (950), Ludhiana (1200), Sangrur (800), S.A.S. Nagar, Mohali (500 bed capacity at Gian Sagar Hospital and 1000 bed capacity at Chandigarh University), Pathankot (400), Fazilka (100) and Faridkot (100).

These centres are running in Meritorious Schools or other institutions to the capacity of 7000 beds which can be enhanced to 28000 beds if the cases surge further. They are being managed by District Administrations and Health Department, and are being used to keep positive patients having none of any symptoms, and without any co-morbidity like chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, in isolation.

The centres are equipped with excellent bed infrastructure with adequate sanitation and security facilities, which are being monitored by Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Hospital Administrators and Counsellors round the clock. They have all the necessary emergency services such as oxygen, ECG, medical supplies etc.

All the patients admitted in these centers are being provided three meals, besides tea twice a day. They are monitored three times a day.

In order to meet any exigency due to deteriorating condition of a patient, elaborate arrangements including a dedicated ambulance are in place in these centres so that patients can be shifted to higher level centres if needed.

Dedicated helpline numbers 104, 0172-2920074, 1800-180-4104 are also available for Psychological and online tele-consultations, and these are displayed at prominent places of the centres. The e-sanjeevani portal is also available for help, added the spokesperson.
