Patiala: After terror suspect’s ‘suicide’, mother ends life

Date:

Patiala, June 3: Kiranjot Kaur, mother of a terror suspect who “committed” suicide two days ago, allegedly hanged herself at her house on Saturday. Kiranjot was reportedly under depression after her son’s death. Her husband Harpreet Singh is already in police custody.
The police said they wanted to question Kiranjot but could not due to her poor mental state.

Her relatives said they saw Kiranjot hanging by her dupatta from the ceiling in her room around 1.30 am.

Young techie Rajatvir Singh reportedly shot himself dead, and investigators are ascertaining whether he was a “suicide bomber” and an “expert in bomb-making” playing into the hands of separatists.
The police had allegedly recovered a pressure cooker and pipe bombs from the room of Kiranjot’s son Rajatvir Sodhi after he ended his life. His mother was the first in the family to see his body after a police team reached their house to arrest Rajatvir.
The police and ballistic experts later raided Rajatvir’s house in Darshan Nagar in Patiala and found a “jacket, the one used by suicide bombers”.
