NGOs in care, protection of kids must register with dept

Chandigarh, November 27: The Punjab Government has made it mandatory for registration of government and non-government organizations which provide free housing, food, education, medical facilities etc. to the needy children for their protection and care.

Giving this information, Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, Director social security and women and child development departments, said these institutions are required to register themselves  under section 41 (1) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015.

She said if any NGO is working on the above task and has not yet been registered, should immediately contact the District Program Officer / District Child Development Officer and submit their documents before December 31, 2019 for registration.

She said that after the due date, If an un-registered organization found working , then strict action will be taken against that under Section 42 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
