Parkash Singh Badal has been the Chief Minister of Punjab since 2007. Parkash Badal was born on 8 December, 1927, in Abul Khurana, near Malout. He belongs the us the Dhillon Jat clan. He graduated from the Forman Christian College in Lahore.
Badal is a village in Lambi tehsil in Muktsar district. It is located 54 km south from district headquarters Sri Muktsar Sahib, 6 km from Lambi and 251 km from state capital Chandigarh.

Parkash Singh Badal started his political career in 1947. He was the Sarpanch of village Badal and later Chairman of Block Samiti, Lambi before entering Punjab politics. He was re-elected in 1969, serving as Minister for Community Development, Panchayati Raj, Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries. He was Leader of the Opposition in 1972, 1980 and 2002.
