Law and order situation in Punjab under control, Sangrur elections held without any violence: Malvinder Kang

Chandigarh, June 24
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang on Friday said that the law and order situation in Punjab is completely under control and opposition parties are trying to malign the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government with their scurrilous claims.

Addressing the media during a press conference at the party headquarters here, Kang said this was the first time in the electoral history of recent years in Punjab that no untoward incident occurred in the Sangrur by-election on Thursday. This is a testament that the law and order situation is completely intact.

Slamming the previous SAD-BJP and Congress governments, Kang said that the municipal elections held in 2021 during the Congress government had witnessed several incidents of violence even shots were fired at SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Giving the example of AAP leader and Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, Kang said that Bhullar was thrashed in the previous election during the Charanjit Singh Channi government. Meanwhile, similar incidents occurred during the tenure of former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, he said.

Kang said that the Akali Dal and the Congress government pushed the youth of Punjab on the wrong path and promoted organized crime. The people of Punjab are suffering the consequences of the same today.

Stating that AAP has a zero-tolerance policy against Corruption, he said that the Mann government would table a ‘white paper’ in the assembly to expose scams and loot during the previous governments, therefore, the people of Punjab would come to know about treachery committed by nefarious leaders in decades.

Reiterating his government’s firm stand, Kang said that exemplary action will be initiated against all erring officers and leaders if found guilty after the probe.
