Jimmy Shergill took to social media and released the first look poster of his upcoming Punjabi film Daana Paani which is slated to release on 4 May, 2018. Jimmy is co-starring with Simi Chahal in the film where he could be seen wearing the uniform of a soldier in desert while riding a camel. At the heart of it, film is a love story of epic proportion between two characters set in a bygone era. Jimmy has wore the uniform of a soldier many times in his career including his blockbuster hit Dharti, which is considered a cult in Punjabi cinema.

Film is directed by ace director Tarnvir Singh Jagpal and will portray Jimmy in a subtle role instead of extraordinary heroism. Jimmy is certainly one of the biggest stars in Punjabi cinema where he started acting after he already a career in Hindi films but more like a supporting actor instead of leading man in the tent-pole Hindi films. Jimmy practically helped in resurrecting the Punjabi film industry from the dead by introducing content driven cinema which had a production value that could impress people around the world who subscribe to that language.

Simi’s character seems to be of a wife who is waiting at home for her soldier husband to return from some kind of war as communication technology was not as active in the bygone days hence people had to wait for months to talk to one another. Name of the film signifies a much simpler film at the core of it’s theme instead of being complicated and painting a larger than life picture though the content of the film could have easily been turned into that direction. Jimmy recently delivered a hit film by the name of ‘Mukkabaaz’ in Hindi which was directed by Anurag Kashyap and he portrayed the role of the main antagonist to much appreciation and critical acclaim.

Here’s how Simi shared this news with her fans..
