Exclusive: Terror attack warning in Punjab, RSS branches on target

New Delhi, November 16: Right-wing political parties and branches of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Punjab may be terror targets ahead of the elections, intelligence received by security agencies have warned. India Today TV has learnt that in two separate reports, intelligence agencies have informed Punjab Police about the terrorists’ plan to attack and disrupt the law and order situation in the state.

The attacks may bring political instability in the country. Delhi Police is also on alert after inputs stated that a group of six-seven Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists are reportedly in Punjab, possibly in Ferozpur area, and are planning to move towards Delhi. According to reports, the terrorists may target political rallies of Right-wing parties in November.

“According to fresh reports, RSS shakhas and places/parks, where yoga or morning walks take place, are being targeted, especially in Commissionerates and major towns such as Patiala, Bathinda, Gurdaspur and Pathankot etc. The targeting could take place by hurling 8 Mail Today, NMewa iDl Teolhdi a/y C, hNaenwd iDgealrhhi,, FFrriiddaayy,, Noovveembbeerr 1166,, 22001188 According to reports, the terrorists may target political rallies of right-wing parties in November. hand grenades”.

“Inputs also indicate that hand grenades are available with the operators of Punjab and J&K-based militant outfits who are being motivated to target the shakhas/parks,” reads the intel received by Punjab Police. The agencies have also suggested that Punjab Police installs CCTV cameras at the RSS venues within 15 days, along with security audit of all the branches.

“In view of the above inputs, which are highly reliable, all CPs/SSP are again requested on a personal level to implement robust preventive and precautionary measures or deployment accordingly to avoid any untoward incidents,” added the letter.
