Ensure proper utilisation of grants for village development: Tript Bajwa to staff

Rural Development Minister awards best performers of MGNREGA, RURBAN, PMAY-G and SRLM schemes

Chandigarh, January 17:  The Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa has directed the Panchayat department officials to ensure that  money given by the government under various schemes and programs should be utilised on the development of villages in the true sense.

Addressing a workshop and award distribution function to implement the MGNREGA scheme in a more efficient manner, the Minister said that strict action would be taken if any officer or employee found indulged in corrupt practices and creating hindrances in the development works of villages.

At the same time, he also expressed hope that all schemes and programs would be run with full dedication and transparency by the Rural Development and Panchayat Department for the development and welfare of the people so that every scheme and program reaches the real beneficiaries in every village.

Speaking on the occasion, the Financial Commissioner Rural Development Seema Jain said that the department has organized a workshop to present the progress of the year 2019-20 and 2020-21under MGNREGA and sensitise the officers regarding proper implementation of schemes. She informed that during the workshop special guest Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, New Delhi Rohit Kumar, IAS shared the tips for implementing MGNREGA in a more efficient way.

Joint Development Commissioner Mrs. Tanu Kashyap gave a detailed presentation regarding work done in under the MGNREGA scheme by the department. In addition, she shared information about the work which would be done during the next year.  Presentations on pond cleaning and solid waste management were also presented during the workshop.

The Chief Guest Rural Development Minister Tript Rajinder Bajwa honored the best performing districts for the work done under MGNREGA, RURBAN, PMAY-G and SRLM schemes and a booklet of success stories of work done under the PSRLM scheme was also released on the occasion.

The award winners included Fatehgarh Churian, district Gurdaspur, for overall Performance under Shyam Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission in state for the  year 2018-19,  district Faridkot for completing 100% Targeted Houses and achieving 1st Rank Throughout the state during year 2018-19 under Shyam PMAY-G, District Fatehgarh sahib for best performing district under MGNREGS in the state for the year 2018-19 and district Mansa for innovative convergence activities in the district under MGNREGS in the state for the year 2018-19.

Apart from this self help groups were also honoured for their good performance which included Ekta Self Help Group District Barnala for contribution to achieve the objective of the Mission through Livelihood activities, Sewa Bhalai Self Helf Group District SAS Nagar for contribution to achieve the objective of the Mission through Livelihood activities,  Sewa Tammana Self Helf GroupDistrict Patiala fo contribution to achieve the objective of the Mission through Livelihood activities and District Bathinda, Cluster Dhapali for “Cluster 1st to implement Ru-urban Soft-PFMS integration “under Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission in the State for the year 2018-19.
