Education ministers meets teachers, assures sitting with CM after vidhan sabha session

Chandigarh, December 5: Punjab Education Minister, Mr. O.P. Soni called upon the leaders of the Sanjha Adhiapak Morcha at the Punjab Bhawan here today and after considering their demands, assured to arrange a meeting with Captain Amarinder Singh ,Chief Minister Punjab on December 16 or 17.

Mr. Soni advised the teachers to shun the path of agitation and resolve the issues through dialogue. He said that all commitments that he had made with the teachers during the dharna at Patiala, would be fulfilled and after the Assembly Session, the issue would be resolved by arranging a meeting with the Chief Minister. He said that in the past, the Chief Minister, while looking sympathetically towards the demands of the teachers, raised their wages by five thousand rupees. Even now, whatever decision the Chief Minister will take, will be implemented, assured Mr. Soni.

On the demand of the Morcha to cancel the transfers and suspensions of their leaders in one go, Education Minister said that after completing the required course of action, the transfers and suspensions would be cancelled. He also asked the members of the Morcha to furnish the list of suspended / transferred teachers. During the meeting, the Education Minister assured to look sympathically into regularisation of lab attendants, Urdu teachers and other categories.

He also extended assurance towards their demand for rationalization and other demands and asked Secretary School Education to look into all of them.

Besides others, during the meeting Secretary School Education Mr. Krishan Kumar and OSD of Education Minister, Mr.DS Saroa was present.
