Dr. Baljit Kaur urges education dept to ensure compliance regarding reservation in selection of ETT teachers

Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur has written a letter to the Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Punjab to follow the directions issued by the Department of Social Justice dated 10-07-1995 as per the Supreme Court decision regarding the reservation policy in the selection of ETT teachers.

It is worth mentioning that a delegation of ETT 6635 SC/BC Union met Dr. Baljit Kaur and brought to the notice of the Minister that in the meeting held with the higher officials of the Education Department and the Minister of School Education, it has been said by them that in the second list of E.T.T teachers’ selection, SC/ BC candidates who has more marks than the last candidate of general category who have already taken jobs in their quota posts and even though now when the merit of the open goes down, their numbers are higher than the last candidate of the general category, but still SC/BC candidates will not be shifted on merit of open category.

In this regard, Dr. Baljit Kaur has taken notice and issued directions to the Principal Secretary, School Education that the instructions issued by the Department of Social Justice on 10.07.1995 based on the judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court are self-evident regarding reservation, compliance of these instructions should be ensured.
