Amritsar, July 3

After removal of the social media account of Ravi Singh of Khalsa Aid, now a leader of Dal Khalsa has voiced concern over banning of his Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Kanwar Pal Singh, Dal Khalsa’s senior activist, said: “My voice is being choked in India as my Instagram account was suspended yesterday.” Already, on Delhi government’s complaint his Twitter account was banned in India last week and Facebook removed his account last month.

Dal Khalsa claimed that the voice of their leaders was being muzzled as social media accounts of two other leaders were withheld before the anniversary of the Operation Bluestar, which falls on June 6 every year. Its Pakistan-based leader Gajinder Singh’s Facebook account was withheld in the last week of May. The Facebook account of its Srinagar-based leader Angad Singh was also banned.

The radical organisation rued the banning of the twitter account of the Khalsa Aid founder on India’s complaint. Before that the song on SYL by singer Sidhu Mussewala was also removed from YouTube on India’s objections. So it described the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi committing to protect freedom of expression at G-7 as “sheer hypocrisy and double standards”.
