Cook, accomplices make loot bid at Ludhiana realtor’s house

Date:

Ludhiana, October 10: A Nepalese cook along with his two accomplices attempted to loot his employer’s house in Sarabha Nagar after serving food laced with sedatives to other servants of the house. The employer, Nitesh Jindal, a realtor, was not home at the time of the incident.

In his complaint, Jindal told the police that on October 5, he had gone to attend a marriage function. When he came back, he saw that the door of the lobby was broken and his domestic help, Deepak Kumar, and his office peon, Puran Chand, were lying unconscious. He immediately rushed them to the hospital.

When Jindal scanned the CCTV cameras installed in the house, he found that his cook, Dhan Bahadur, and his two unidentified accomplices had entered the house by breaking open the door. In the attempt, Dhan Bahadur even injured his hand with broken pieces of glass.

Jindal told the police that he had gone to attend a marriage function. When he returned, he found the lobby door broken and his domestic help and his office peon lying unconscious.
Later, when Deepak and Puran Chand gained consciousness two days later, they told the police that Dhan Bahadur had offered him something to eat, while Puran Chand was offered tea laced with sedatives. “Dhan Bahadur even washed the utensils in which the food was served,” Deepak said.

Jindal said he had employed Dhan Bahadur around a week ago based on a reference from their former domestic help.

A case under Section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison), 454 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence), 511 (attempt to commit offences) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Sarabha Nagar police station against Dhan Bahadur and his two unidentified accomplices.

Head constable Kulwant Singh said the police are carrying out raids to trace the accused.
