Any lapse in timely completion of ongoing works won’t be tolerated: Hayer

Chandigarh, January 11: Timely completion of ongoing works and proper utilization of funds intended for development works are top priorities of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led state government. No lapse in any work will be tolerated and there would be zero tolerance towards corruption.

It was stated by Water Resources Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer while reviewing the status of development works of this newly allotted Department.

In the meeting, the status of major works such as the Construction of the Shahpur Kandi dam, lining off Kandi Canal, Rajasthan Feeder, Sirhind Feeder and Lahore Branch was also reviewed. Meet Hayer instructed that the officials to ensure that the timeline for completion of these works is not extended so that benefit of these significant works can be transferred to the public as early as possible.

While reviewing the Budget utilization of development works, he instructed that the department shall also ensure that no funds are left un-utilized.

Taking stock of the ongoing works of Punjab Water Resources Management and Development Corporation (PWRMDC), it was directed that the work of restoration of water courses has been found wanting and MD PWRMDC was instructed to ensure the timely execution of all such works.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Krishan Kumar, Chief Engineer Drainage cum Mining NK Jain, Chief Engineer Canals Shami Singla, Chief Engineer Vigilance and Design Water Systems Pawan Kapur, MD PWRMDC Harinder Pal Singh Bedi, XEN Dams Dilpreet Singh.
