Animal Husbandry Minister visits Lumpy Skin affected areas

To take the first-hand information of works being carried out to prevent the lumpy skin disease spread among the cattle of the state, the Punjab Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Saturday, visited affected areas of district Fazilka.

Expressing satisfaction over the work being done by the department and the local organization for the prevention of disease in villages Rampura and Sukhchain of Balluana constituency, Bhullar said that adhering to the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the animal husbandry department was taking all necessary steps to prevent the spread of this disease. The government has released an amount of Rs.76 lakh to all the districts of the state. Besides this, the veterinary officers from the headquarter have also been deputed in the districts to help the district staff.

While talking to media persons, the cabinet minister said that lumpy skin disease is spreading especially in cattle and many districts of the state have been affected so far. He directed officials to regularaly visit the livestock farms and take necessary measures to prevent the animals from contracting the disease.

The Cabinet Minister urged livestock farmers that if an animal dies, the carcass should not be thrown in open, but it should be buried to stop the spread of the disease. He also appealed that farmers should not buy cattle from other states for the time being to prevent the spread of the disease. The Minister was accompanied with MLA Balluana Amandeep Singh Goldi.
