Their statement has come as a big relief for SAD leadership as speculations were rife that they might criticise party’s top leadership after Dhindsa resigned on Saturday as the party’s secretary general and from its core committee, citing health reasons.

Dhindsa’s resignation came at a time when the SAD was being slammed by the ruling Congress and the AAP over the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission’s report on sacrilege incidents in Punjab.

Senior Akali leaders said if they found anything wrong on the part of alliance partner the BJP, they would not hesitate in asking the SAD leadership to break the alliance.

They said weekly meeting of senior party leaders would be held to strengthen the party.
