4 hurt in Bathinda clash; 24 booked

Bathinda, April 9: Around two dozen persons on Sunday were booked in cross-FIRs registered after a clash broke out between two groups over the dispute of installing the gates in a street at Rampura village in the district.

A heated exchange between the two groups turned into a bloody clash within minutes. In the incident, both the groups attacked each other with sticks, rods and sharp-edged weapons. Even Makhan Chand opened fire as well. Four persons, including one woman, were seriously injured in the clash. All the injured have been admitted at a government hospital.

After recording the statements of both the groups, the police have registered a cross FIR against the 24 persons and started a probe into this incident.
As per information, Makhan Chand and Kirpal Singh, residents of Rampura, had been a dispute over installing a gate in the street for a long time. Many times both the groups reached the panchayat and the police for a compromise.

On Friday evening, both groups again had a verbal duel over installing a gate in the street and within no time it turned into a fight with both group attacking each other. Jaswinder Singh Namberbad, Makhan Chand’s wife Lakhwinder Rani, son Sukhjeet and Buta were injured in this incident. They are under treatment at the local Civil Hospital.
