Virsa Singh Valtoha belongs to the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal party. He is a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly and represents Khem Karan. He was born on 09-02-1962 at Valtoha, district Tarn Taran. Name of his father is Sardar Sohan Singh Sandhu.
Khem Karan is a town and a nagar panchayat in Tarn Taran district. It was the site of a major tank battle in 1965, which is why it is also known as the graveyard of tanks. The 1965 Indo-Pakistani War was witness to the largest tank battle in military history between World War II and 1965. The battle led to the creation of Patton Nagar (or Patton City) at the site of the battle viz., Khemkaran.

Virsa Singh Valtoha was elected to the Punjab Legislative Assembly from the Valtoha constituency in 2007. During the 2012 Punjab elections, Valtoha constituency underwent boundary delimitation. He won by a margin of 13102 votes. Gurchet Singh Bhullar of Congress was the trailing candidate. Valtoha then successfully contested for the Punjab Assembly seat from Khem Karan.
