Maur blast: 2 booked, raids on to nab them

Date:

Bathinda, February 10: A day after the police produced four persons in the Talwandi Sabo court as witnesses in the Maur blast, the SIT today booked Gurtej Singh Kala, who was incharge of a workshop at Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa, and Amrik Singh of Mansa.

The police are also looking into the role of a resident of Goohla Cheeka village in Haryana. Gurtej and Amrik are the first ones to be named as accused in the case. The case was earlier registered against unidentified accused.

Dinkar Gupta, DGP (Intelligence), said they were conducting raids in Punjab and Haryana for the arrest of Gurtej and Amrik. “We have also started the procedure for issuing look out circular for them,” he said.

It had come to light in the initial stages of the probe that the battery was purchased from Sirsa, while some of the mobile calls also hinted at Sirsa link. Police sources said they found the first clue from the shop from where the battery was purchased. Now, the arrest of Gurtej and Amrik will expose the mastermind behind the blast and the motive.

The sources said the police could also question Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, his adopted daughter Honeypreet and dera management chief Vipasana. The DGP said though it was too early to comment on it, they would do so, if needed.
