The Government Railway Police have registered a case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Arjun Kumar, his brother Ankit Kumar, their father Rishi Pal and friend Sunny, all residents of Dhandari Kalan. A hunt has been launched to nab them, said the police.

Deepa Kumari’s brother Vikas Kumar said the accused used to stalk his sister and when he tried to stop them, they allegedly thrashed him and his family members on October 28.

The Sahnewal police registered a case of trespass and assault against the accused, on Monday but failed to arrest them. Even after being booked, the accused kept on harassing Deepa, forcing her to end her life, alleged Vikas. “Had the police arrested the accused, my sister would have been alive,” he said.

Assistant sub-inspector Joginder Singh said the police conducted raids to arrest the accused, but could not locate them.
