‘Ek Suneha – 2’: Harbhajan Singh’s tribute to Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh

Date:

The freedom we enjoy today, the freedom we take for granted, the freedom that has been gifted to us, is the freedom that martyrs have earned for us. Many lives were sacrificed to host the Indian flag, several names became history to frame India’s future, and one such name is Shaheed Bhagat Singh. As a tribute to the legend, cricketer Harbhajan Singh released his video ‘Ek Suneha-part 2’.

23rd March 2018 will mark the 87th anniversary of Bhagat Singh’s martyrdom and with ‘Ek Suneha- part 2’ cricketer Singh salutes the freedom fighter. Talking about Bhagat Singh, Harbhajan expressed that Shaheed-E-Azam didn’t only give us freedom but a sense of pride. He also added that not every other person has the courage to embrace gallows, the bravery that Bhagat Singh had is a rare characteristic. The least we can do as an act of gratitude is have some sense of responsibility to protect our society.

While releasing the album in a private hotel yesterday along with his wife Geeta Basra, the cricketer quoted “We are consciously and subconsciously damaging our society in our day to day lives. So grave is the damage that we need to invoke a Bhagat Singh in each one of us to get us free from the slavery of our own wrongdoings. Sardar Bhagat Singh had sacrificed his life for our freedom.”

This is the second time, Harbhajan has worked with Goyal Music. Gurcharan Singh has given music to the video, while Sanjay Glory worked on the lyrics and direction. The first part of ‘Ek Suneha’ touched very sensitive subjects. It talked about how in the name of modern day songs or peppy tracks, vulgarity and cheapness is being promoted.
