AAP stages dharna, demands CBI probe into illegal mining

Date:

Ropar, June 26: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a state-level dharna against the attack on party leader and local MLA Amarjit Singh Sandoa here on Monday. The AAP has demanded a CBI inquiry into all cases of illegal mining in the state. The party has also demanded a White Paper regarding police investigation conducted till now in Bargari sacrilege incident and Maur Mandi blast.

Addressing party workers, AAP state co-president Dr Balbir Singh said he dared Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to mark an inquiry into illegal mining cases of the past 15 years to know the involvement of SAD, Congress and AAP leaders.

Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira, interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of the rally, alleged that the state police was adopting a lax approach in the probe of sacrilege incidents. No action had been taken against the Bargari sacrilege accused till now, he said. The police initially showed exemplary enthusiasm in the probe of the incident and when the needle of suspicion pointed towards the role of a Congress leader and a dera the police started dragging its feet in this regard, he added.

Similarly, initially the allegations were levelled against AAP for the twin blasts at Maur Mandi on January 31 last year. Now when the role of a dera behind the incident had come to light, the police preferred to keep mum, he said.
